Yeti has been designing and manufacturing high-quality gear for the past 13 years. Back in 2006, two brothers, whom both shared a passion for the outdoors, had the vision of re-inventing the ice cooler. Older coolers back then weren’t quite up to the task of handling the vigorous activities of the great outdoors. Often times, latches on these coolers would snap, and lids would repeatedly cave in. Due to frustration of these unreliable ice coolers, Yeti was formed along with the first heavy-duty ice cooler, constructed to take a beating. Along with this revolutionary design came many other durable Yeti products including (but, not only) the Yeti 30 oz. Tumbler. This review will take an in-depth leap into the features and functionality of the Yeti 30 oz. Tumbler and why its one of the most sought after items for coffee lovers in today’s market.
Features of the Yeti 30 oz. Tumbler
The 30 oz. Tumbler is measured out to be a sizable piece of drinkware (for all the right reasons) compared to its competition. The capacity of the 30 oz. Tumbler is, well… 30 ounces. This size in capacity allows for the Tumbler to hold a significant amount of liquid. The rest of the measurements play out to be 7.875″ (height) by 4″ (mouth width) by 2.75″ (base width) and has an overall weight of 16 oz. (1lb or 0.45kg). The narrow base of the 30 oz. Tumbler allows it to fit comfortably in any standard size cup holder typically found in any automobile. While backpacking, I tend to store my stainless steel 30 oz. Tumbler in one of the side pouches of my backpack while on trail with no issues at all.
The Yeti 30 oz. Tumbler, along with its other Yeti drinkware counterparts, are manufactured with kitchen-grade, 18/8 stainless steel, puncture and rust resistant material. This fact alone makes these Yeti items ideal candidates to withstand whatever mother nature has in store for it especially while backpacking. The 30 oz. Tumbler has a ‘No Sweat’ design that essentially keeps your hands dry and protected from beverages of hot temperatures. The walls of the 30 oz. Tumbler are insulated through double-wall vacuum technology that will aid in keeping your warm beverages hot and your coldest drinks ice-cold.
The lid of the 30 oz. Tumbler has a see-through and shatterproof design along with a sliding magnet (which Yeti has termed the ‘MagSlider’) that acts as the cap for the lid. The lid and the MagSlider act as an additional coat of protection and aid in the process of retaining the appropriate temperatures of the liquid inside. The lid and MagSlider are easily removable and can be cleaned safely either by washing manually or by dishwasher. The lid and MagSlider, however, are not intended to be leakproof and will not prevent spills but it does a decent job at keeping liquid inside, nonetheless. I noticed that my Yeti 20 oz. Tumbler has the tendency to leak more often than my 30oz. Tumbler. Perhaps this is due to the width of the mouth, the lid or MagSlider, or pure coincidence.

Overall Function of the 30 Oz. Tumbler
The Yeti 30 oz. Tumblers are readily available in the following DuraCoat colors: reef blue, canyon red, sand (beige), stainless steel, navy, white, seafoam, brick road, and black. Having a DuraCoat layer ensures that the 30 oz. Tumbler will not peel, crack or fade in color. Yeti also has additional accessories such as a handle specifically designed for the Tumbler and replacement lids and MagSliders. You can even purchase the classic lid with a straw if that is something that floats your boat.
Overall, the design features of the Yeti 30 oz. Tumbler are slick and desirable, especially for those who are looking for drinkware that does an exceptional job in retaining temperatures. Often times, while drinking ice-cold water, the ice cubes left in the Tumbler are still in solid form even hours after finishing my last sip. It also does a notable job in preserving the heat of my coffee that I drink almost every morning. OK, who am I kidding…every single morning. Despite the 30 oz. Tumbler not being entirely leakproof, it still provides users with what it was originally designed for: retaining temperature. Most negative reviews you will find within the Yeti website are from individuals who have the misconception that Yeti’s drinkware is leakproof. Yeti does an excellent job advertising that this is not the case. This leakproof statement can be found in the description of each drinkware item (if it contains a lid, of course) they sell on their website. So, don’t pay too much attention to these sorts of reviews. I can personally attest that the features and the overall function of the 30 oz. Tumbler is remarkable and exemplifies exactly what is described on Yeti’s website.

As mentioned above, the Yeti company was branded solely based off the pure envision of constructing a heavy-duty, trustworthy cooler thus it may be obvious that Yeti is well-known for this item in particular. I can’t wait to get a hold of one of the Tundra coolers and replace my run-down, cheap Walmart bin whose lid is barely hanging on to its hinges. One day. Yeti also has an assortment of other styles of drinkware, hard and soft coolers, bags, buckets, chairs, blankets, and other accessories. Have a look on Yeti’s official website if you are interested in seeing what more they have to offer!
There you have it, folks. I personally love using my Yeti 30 oz. Tumbler while out hiking or backpacking. It does a fine job retaining the heat of my instant coffee I brew while on trail. It’s not the greatest tasting coffee in the world but it sure is hot when I decide to drink it. Don’t get me wrong, the 30 oz. Tumbler doesn’t need to be used strictly for backpacking or hiking! In most cases, it’s used for everyday use. I have found that it serves its purpose while in the outdoors, as well.
The Yeti 30 oz. Tumbler can be found on Yeti and Amazon for a great, feasible price of $34.99 USD or $44.99 CAD and is a product that will last you a lengthy amount of time.
