Welcome, Outdoor Recreational (ODR, for short) Backpacking visitors! ODR Backpacking is a website that contains written material that highlights popular and useful backpacking gear, basic outdoor skills, and potential traveling/trekking destinations for any adventurers looking to explore new areas of this beautiful world of ours.
My Outdoor Background
Thinking way back, I can recall the outdoors being a considerable passion of mine since the early days of my childhood. Exploring throughout the woods, building shelters and fires, and fishing down by the river was something I enjoyed doing regularly.
I currently reside in Alberta, Canada. This province provides exceptional opportunity to explore the outdoors especially with the Rocky Mountains so close. My outdoor skills are something I brush up on often as I happen to teach Outdoor Education to many junior and high school students. Some basic outdoor skills we focus on as a group are core camping skills, hiking and backpacking, navigation, fishing, archery, first aid survival and much more.
While obtaining my Bachelor of Education in Physical Education and Science in Nova Scotia, Canada, I had the honor of learning from a very knowledgeable outdoorsman who helped me obtain certifications in canoeing and kayaking through Paddle Canada, archery through the National Archery Schools Program and wilderness advanced first aid through the Canadian Red Cross.
The Purpose of ODR Backpacking
The purpose of ODR Backpacking is to provide useful and educational content on proper backpacking gear, basic but essential outdoor skills, and suggestions on unforgettable hikes and treks.
I would love to be able to use my outdoor skills and expertise to help individuals who share the same passion as me or would like to begin experiencing the great outdoors and what it has to offer.
The Goal for ODR Backpacking
The ultimate goal of Outdoor Recreational Backpacking would be for it to see that the backpacking and outdoor content embedded throughout this site is helping like-minded adventurers, new or experienced, all over the world.
If you ever have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.
All the best,
